Field Tools

The Counting on the Environment project developed several field tools to help credit calculation. There are currently three datasheets for different currencies, and a manual that supports each of these datasheets.

Salmon habitat and the water quality benefits of riparian restoration are captured using the Methods Library Datasheet Parametrix, Inc. has developed a first draft of a Field Guide to go with the datasheet. Each of the currency-specific webpages contain links to guidance and procedures for entering field data into the currency calculators.

Prairie habitat is measured using the prairie datasheet. There is no field manual for the prairie metric yet.

Wetland habitat is measured using the ORWAP datasheets; coverpage, field f data form, field s data form, office data form. See the ORWAP Manual for guidance on completing the field and office forms.

Before going out in the field, the site should be divided into map units based on common habitat structure and features. You will want to print out the appropriate datasheet(s) for each map unit.

For map units with the potential for multiple credits (e.g. salmon and wetlands), you will need to complete both the Methods Library and the ORWAP datasheets. As time goes on, we anticipate these datasheets merging, but we are not at that point yet.
