WP Alum | Fellow, Community Resilience
Clark Shimeall (he/him) is interested in the intersections between people and place, and emphasizing the relationships between communities and environment.
A born and bred Oregonian, Clark took the abundance and (relative) accessibility of the West’s natural spaces for granted. Two years of Americorps service in Boston as a para-educator and service project coordinator helped him better understand the critical importance of an active relationship with the environment, and the systemic physical and social barriers to accessing nature — from fresh produce to wilderness.
Clark’s nine months at the Partnership were funded through the Rosenbaum Service Leadership Scholars Program, a subsidiary of the Portland State University Honors College. He majors in Geography at PSU. Away from the computer, Clark loves to work, build, and eat with his hands, as well as get outside via foot, bike, or kayak. He spends his summers as a whitewater rafting guide in Northeastern Oregon.
